Charted Territory

I received this chart recently; formulated by a therapist of Kids in The Middle based in St. Louis, MO. it looks like a useful tool to help with decision making around contact with a former partner.

I liked that there are options which tell you to stop, and pick up the phone, or back away from the keyboard. I’d go even a step further since in general, it’s my feeling that text messages are to be avoided at all costs unless we’re talking about something really brief and to the point, such as “I have a flat tire and will be delayed half an hour.” Otherwise, people tend to respond immediately and without thinking too much to text messages, often creating a very unhealthy spiral.
